Birthday Present

birthday-present

I confess that the genesis of this joke was when I was reading Addanac City, and the father had a “#2 Dad” mug. Naturally, I just kind of riffed on it in my ADD brain!

Yes, Bunny Wiggins is a dad… to the “Wigglets”… a pretty sub-par father at that.

Also, the archways in the first panel are an homage to Cliff Sterrett’s Polly and Her Pals which was a graphically stunning comic that ran from 1913-1964… but many consider the 1920’s to be it’s apex. Every now and then it’s influence creeps in.

There are some changes on the site made back on Saturday… some of you may notice the Twitter widget… feel free to friend me or whatever you do with Twitter. Also, I’ve changed the comments section just a smidge… now I have the Intense Debate plug-in, which I think is pretty nifty

At least it's not a restraining order

Hahaha! This was a good one! That ribbon is about the equivalent of the runner's-up prizes on the game shows. :D

  3. John K Says:

I may actually try this for my fathers next birthday.

  4. JerryBenedict Says:

Thanks George… consolation prizes are another favorite joke of mine… you lose on a game show and you get a year's worth of Rice-a-Roni…

  5. Pzero Says:

Woo for intense debate! Participation, one step above "try again next year".

  6. speearr Says:

Hey good one there Jerry! Can't stop laughing…. sums up his parenting skills in one word.

  7. D. Long Says:

The archways are awesome! That's a gorgeous panel.

BTW I installed intensedebate, then uninstalled it, because all the avatars looked fuzzy! Did that happen with you at first? Also, I saw little to no modification abilities- did you modify it in CSS? Because mine looked different.

And Rice-A-Roni's nuthin' to sneeze at. It's better than Uncle Ben's Perverted Rice.

  9. JerryBenedict Says:

This is true… I guess it's a "nice try"… but in his case, the kids were being generous!
So far I'm liking the intense debate, Philly… it matches the replies with the comments, which makes things less confusing for the reader (I hope).

Thanks speearr! Overall, BW is the most self serving/self centered in the comic strip… and probably the most impulsive.

  11. JerryBenedict Says:

I haven't had any issues like that… I didn't modify it… then again, my own web abilities are too meager to swing that.

One odd thing about Intense Debate though… seems I have to moderate the comments, even if the person has been commenting for awhile!

  12. JerryBenedict Says:

True… I suppose you wouldn't have to worry about what to have for dinner for awhile. That Uncle Ben is a shady character anyway!

  13. JerryBenedict Says:

I'm sure Wiggins has had his shares of those, too!
